Over
the Counter Acne Product
Over the counter acne products range in brand and type. The most common type of over
the counter acne product is topical lotions and creams. Some
of the most effective lotions contain some of the following
ingredients: clindamycin phosphate (may need doctors
prescription), benzoyl peroxide and salicic
acid. These lotions are to be used alongside a daily cleanser and
a non- comedogenic moisturizer.
Washing
of the face twice a day (once when you wake up, and once
before you go to bed) is still highly recommended as washing your
face will remove dead skin, surface skin bacteria and excess oil
from your face and body. Avoid excessive scrubbing when washing
your face. It’s best to gently work the cleanser into your face
as hard rubbing will irritate your skin making your acne worse.
Using
a good moisturizer will also help, because it will reduce
inflammation and irritation caused by acne and from your cleanser.
